Amy Stamp first studied law for A-level at South Downs College where she achieved top grades for her introduction into criminal and contract law. She went on to study a degree in Law & Business at the University of Portsmouth Business School, becoming an active member of its Law Society, and proceeded to achieve distinction for an advanced property elective she took during her LPC course at Guildford College of Law.
‘It was at this point that I knew property law was for me,’ she says. ‘I preferred process-driven transactions, enjoyed getting stuck into long legal documents to figure out their implications, and I found I was easily picking up the technical aspects and language of the property industry.’
After she completed her academic education in 2012, Amy won a training contract at Southampton law firm, Lamport Bassitt, gained her first experience of working in commercial and residential property and was offered a job as soon as she became a qualified solicitor in July 2015, by which point the firm had merged with Pitmans LLP.
The following year, she made the decision to move back home to Portsmouth. ‘When I heard Verisona Law was looking to expand their Commercial Property & Property Development department, everything fell into place. I could not have wished for a better opportunity, so I was delighted when I got the job.’
